I was able to fit all my luggage in it for college. I would recommend buying additional straps just for extra security atop your car.
Great, Great Soft Rooftop Carrier

We have had this rooftop car carrier for over a year. Used it 8 times ourselves on our Buick Rendevous and lent it to family members. Most trips ranged from 4 to 10 hours driving time. Easy to intstall on the roof and holds more than I would have imagined which helps on easing up alot of interior car space(held full size suitcase, smaller suitcase & 2 duffle bags packed full.) We have been in torrential downpours of rain and not one bit of water or moisture has made its way into the bag (directions state to zip & make sure flap is over zipper once closed, if not done I could see how rain might penetrate the zipper area.) A must are roof rack cross bars to use this carrier, after loading & zipped shut the cross bars must be adusted to snuggle next to the carrier. The LAST step is to anchor the 4 straps around the cross bars (directions state it is to be done after loading & zipping it up; if it was anchored before loading it could cause too much tension when zipping which might cause a problem.) The extra unused strap flapping in the wind can be annoying to listen to during a car ride, try to remember to loosely tie them up so they won't flap. The carrier has never scratched or dented the car roof but you do feel the extra weight of it as you drive along. It is light and easy to fold away for storage, durable at a decent price making it a worthwhile investment.
Straps tore on first use.

I used this carrier on a roundtrip drive from so. cal. to Grand Canyon. After 2 days, two of the straps began to tear at the stitching on the carrier. I believe it is still water proof because the inside layer is still in tack. But I was hoping for something more durable. Maybe I cinched it up too tight, but I will probably return it and try again.
Works great, especially for the $$

Holds luggage for a family of 3 including a giant jogging stroller. The only luggage we had to put in the car was the diaper bag, and you know how much stuff you have to carry anywhere with a baby. Very quiet ride (we drove 2000 miles on our last trip), bag has held up great, and it is waterproof. When compared to the 3-400 dollar jobs, you can't go wrong with this.
Worked great!

Exactly what I was looking for! Inexpensive extra cargo space for camping and road trips that would still keep my gear dry. Also great because it takes up very little space in my garage between uses!
