Product Description |
| Ertl's Rapid Fire Shotguns seem realistic, but safe and fun to upcoming outdoor enthusiasts ages 8 and up. This Rapid Fire Shotgun is a new take on toys kids have been playing with for generations. The big news here is that the fun quotient is intact, but the toys shoot soft, safe foam darts. |

"Nerf or Nothing" right? WRONG!!!
Wow i can't believe people still buy nerf guns. Have you people never heard of airsoft? Seriously what is the purpose of a nerf gun anyway? So you can shoot people without them saying "ow"? Where's the fun in that? What's even more amazing is that these things are priced the same as most entry level airsoft guns.
I don't own this product but i just had to make a review warning you not to waste your money on something as childish as this. If you are buying this for your child, don't bother. Get them an entry level airsoft gun instead! Airsoft guns are far more realistic, durable, and they are way more fun to shoot, and that's not an opinion, it's a fact! If you are trying to teach your child about guns, whether it be for safety reasons, target practice, hunting, or even if you are trying to get them to murder grandma, airsoft is a much better choice, both because of the large selection of guns, and also the realism. Honestly, there are pricy airsoft guns out there that could easily be mistaken for a real gun, thus the orange tip is required.
Brief summary of this kiddie toy:
Looks: Gay.
Price: Way too much for what this is.
Feel: Like I'm holding a fancy wad of plastic.
Durability: Drop it once from 3 feet or higher and i guarantee it will break.
FPS: Probably about 3 fps(feet per second.)
SERIOUSLY HELP ME MAKE NERF GO OUT OF BUSINESS! BUY AIRSOFT TODAY!

It's been said more than once about this gun, but I'll say it again. It's crap out of the box. It's very frustrating because of the jamming and misfiring problem, but with a little bit of work you can get it firing really well, and if you check out the gun on youtube (try searching for "Ertl Shotgun"), you'll see some pretty extreme modifications. it's really amazing how much power you can get out of this gun.
there's quite a bit of info already online concerning modifications for this gun, and to be honest, most of the fun lies in figuring it out on your own and trying not to break anything in the process. So with a bit of research and some tinkering, this gun is well worth the time and money. |
10 yr. old loves it

| My son's recent obsession with Nerf guns broadened a little when he saw this. He loved the shotgun look and was very pleased with it. |

| This gun is a dud! not nearly powerful enough. It shoots three feet before the darts start to droop and fall to the ground. At times the thing even jams up with the darts. Don't waste your money. |
Best "Nerf" gun. Period.

Ok. So out of the box it performs poor. But then again most all nerf guns do so that is really irrelevant. By standards of a professional nerf modder (my modded blasters sell for over $200) this blaster is amazing. It can be transformed from a weak child's toy that ranges 10-15' to a dominating weapon that will hurl foam darts over 100'. This and the pump action shotgun are the two best currently produced nerf type blasters. Like most nerf type blasters you will need to modify the barrels to shoot the optimal "stefan" style foam darts. The darts that are included are similar to the older style nerf darts called MEGAS. They can still be ordered from Hasbro directly. however the company that produces this blaster also sells refills of the same type darts it comes with. Amazon does not however sell them. If you do want to use standard common nerf type ammo you can do that also.
Here is an example of my own skills put into this blaster.
